Engineering Camps

Try one or both of these mind-stimulating, three-day camps held over summer break, at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

For Kids ages 3-5

  Junior Aerospace
Monday, June 16-Wednesday June 18
9 a.m. - noon

  This camp is designed to introduce students to the job of an engineer, the field of engineering, and basic concepts of engineering as they relate to the science of aircraft and spacecraft. Through open and focused exploration, students will construct an airplane, a straw rocket, a parachute, a hot-air balloon, and a helicopter. By the end of the unit, each student will be "Licensed to Fly!"

Junior Mechanical Toys
Monday July 21-Wednesday July 23
9 a.m. - noon

This camp is designed to introduce our youngest students to the field of mechanical engineering through the investigation and design of an assortment of toys. Students will learn about various principles of motion as they construct each of the following toys: Popper, Spinner, Boomerang Can, Wind-Up Whirligig, Buzzer, and the Good Vibrations Guitar during the camp.

 Cost per camp:  Passholders, $90; Residents, $100; Non-residents, $110
Registration begins May 8.
There is a $30 supply cost for each camp that will need to be paid on the first day.
